Loosely inspired by Stanislaw Lem’s 1961 novel Solaris, s0laris_niebieski is the third in a series of four procedurally generated three-dimensional fractals, animated by the interplay between a set of mathematical algorithms and the differing spectral frequencies of the accompanying soundscape.
In Lem’s novel, the planet Solaris orbits twin stars, one red, one blue, and is covered by a vast gelatinous ocean given to sudden eruptions of immense, ambiguous, intricate structures, which, despite signs of extraordinary extraterrestrial intelligence, remain resolutely incomprehensible to human observers.

Installation & display
The video above is the first channel of a five channel work, intended for site-specific projection rather than screen-based display. The other four channels show the same subject from differing vantage points. The five channel work may be installed as the third movement of a four movement piece, together with the other three works in this series.
