Houdini Frozen Geometry Tutorial

Really excellent tutorial — very clear, well-paced, and with solid workflow — by Armin Lofti showing how to abuse the (introduced in Houdini 18) as a quick and dirty way to drive noised infections and growth patterns, used here to grow a sheath of ice around a freezing object. (Five minute introduction to the same topic by Entagma’s Moritz Schwind is here).

It’s not hard to drive point infections with a few lines of vex, but nonetheless very nice to have an operator that does the lifting, so we can focus on tweaking noise to art direct the diffusion.

Bonus: popnet + trail + polywire + attribute VOP noise = decent icicles.

Quite a bit on Redshift lookdev and rendering towards the end.
